New. Video. Kathleen. Edwards. Period.
I’ve got a fever and there’s only one cure…no, not more cowbell, more 97’s
It has been a long time comin’, but it is nigh upon us: The May 13th release of the Blame it on Gravity. The Old 97’s latest CD hits the shelves and breaks the band’s 4 year silence (well, “CD Silence,” they have played shows and worked on side projects). They have a new song or two up on their Myspace page to go along with this nice little video preview (below) of what we can expect from the Salim Nourallah produced disc.

Hayes Carll isn’t too happy with someone….
In the midst of impostors and questions as to the vitality of “Texas Music”, Hayes Carll represents what is currently great about music from one of his two home-states (we share him with Arkansas). His wit and drawl are indigenous to this region and his upcoming album (April 8, Lost Highway Records) features a song that showcases both prominently. As a God-fearing man myself, I shuttered a bit at the title and chorus, but taken with the proper lightness, humor and keeping your tongue planted firmly in your cheek you’ll likely find it’s just a good, old-fashioned Country song.

The Drams + Two Cow Garage + The patio at Jovita’s + A Springsteen cover = AWESOMENESS!!!!
Sarah Borges Rocks the Patio at SXSW…
Sorry it has been a while since my last post. I will have more over the next few days, but I thought I would send this out.
Last weekend at South by Southwest I hit the Twangfest Day Party at Jovita’s. Some really great bands played as I hung on the patio with my woman, baby and the boys from The 9513.
While The Whipsaws were great, Tommy Womack rocked and Tim Easton rolled, it was Sarah Borges & The Broken Singles that were the main event for me. Like I said, more on my trip later this week. If you aren’t familiar with her, please listen to her Myspace and take a look at the videos below….
